Hand Picking the Right Tomato

Spring seems to be flirting with everyone here in Central Ohio and hasn’t shown its face just yet. However, time is still moving on and at the end of the week, we will be in May! Hard to believe that April is over, but we are pushing forward and getting closer to the summer months. With that being said, it is time to start thinking about your gardens, what are you going to grow this year that worked out well and what are you going to try? The following information will go into some greater detail about some of the types of tomatoes you need to try!

Costoluto Genovese

First, try out the Constoluto Genovese Tomato. This deep red fruit with orange shoulders is high yielding and disease resistant, too. This tomato is great for both sauces and eating when fresh. Give this one a try!

Next for your classic Cherry and Grape Tomatoes, we are recommending the Isis Candy. Sweet and fruity, Isis Candy has become a top winner and favorite at tomato tastings. This crack-resistant and spectacular top seller is a great plant to include in your garden.

Cherokee Purple

If you are looking for a beautiful color in the garden, we recommend the Cherokee Purple. This pinkish purple fruit produces a complex flavor and is great when looking for a disease resistant, reliable and easy to grow tomato.

Our last recommendation for your tomato garden this summer is the Margherita. This classic fruit is firm and cylindrical in shape, making them easy to chop and slice. This variety is tasty enough for fresh eating, but really comes into its own when grilled, roasted or broiled.

Make sure to share this with your gardening friends if they are looking to make a change in their garden this year! If you are looking for any other suggestions, make sure to reach out to us, we would love to help you out.
