Snow Operator
Snow · Full-time, seasonal snow · Columbus, OH
The Role
Winter snow and ice operations on commercial properties across Central Ohio: plow routes, salt spreading, and sidewalk crews.
$25–$30 per hour, based on experience
Snow operations run alongside our maintenance and construction crews each winter. Crew members from those divisions can pick up snow hours, and we also hire directly for the season. Storms do not run on a schedule, so the work starts when the snow does.
What the Work Includes
- Run plow truck routes on commercial lots and drives during snow events
- Operate salt spreader equipment for de-icing routes
- Work sidewalk crews: shovel, blow, and treat walks ahead of business hours
- Report to commercial lots before dawn during active storms
- Complete route checklists and communicate route status to the office
- Keep the plow truck, spreader, and hand equipment fueled, loaded, and ready between events
What It Takes
- Valid driver's license; able to drive a truck with a plow attachment
- Available for pre-dawn and overnight call-outs during winter storms
- Comfortable working outside in snow and cold for extended shifts
- Reliable: on call and ready to respond when a storm starts
Helps, Not Required
- Snowplow or spreader operating experience
- Current Peabody crew member picking up winter hours
- Spanish/English bilingual
