Project Narrative

How this project comes together

What the site needed

This Worthington backyard had grade, shade, and a house sitting above the lawn. A flat patio alone would not have solved the connection from the door to the yard.

How the build answers it

The project builds a sequence: deck at the house, steps down to the stone terrace, planting beds at the grade change, and a covered pavilion set into the lawn. Wood structure, stone walls, railings, and beds make the backyard feel intentional from the house to the tree line.

Location: Worthington, OH
Division: Residential Design & Build
Focus: Deck, Pavilion & Garden
Project Type: Raised deck, pavilion, and garden terrace

Scope

Raised deck and railing
Covered wood pavilion
Stone terrace and steps
Garden walls and raised beds
Planter boxes and planting beds
Lawn path connection

Design Notes

The deck keeps the outdoor room level with the house, then the steps move down to the terrace and lawn.
The pavilion gives the yard a second destination instead of leaving the deck as the only place to sit.
Stone walls and raised beds handle the grade change while giving planting a clear edge.
Wood rails, black metal, and the pavilion structure keep the details consistent with the wooded setting.
