Project Narrative

How this project comes together

What the site needed

This backyard needed a covered place to cook, sit, and stay outside later in the season without cutting the patio off from the house or the lawn.

How the build answers it

The pavilion gives the patio a roof, a kitchen wall, and a clear seating zone, while the open sides keep the yard connected. Pavers, steps, planting, and containers make the route from the house to the pavilion feel finished instead of added on.

Location: New Albany, OH
Division: Residential Design & Build
Focus: Covered Pavilion & Outdoor Kitchen
Project Type: Covered pavilion, outdoor kitchen, and patio

Scope

Covered wood pavilion
Built-in outdoor kitchen and bar seating
Paver patio field and banding
House-to-pavilion step transitions
Lounge seating and television wall
Planting beds and fall containers

Design Notes

The roof and posts define the outdoor room, but the open sides keep views into the yard.
Cooking, bar seating, and lounge seating sit under the same cover, so the pavilion works for more than one use at a time.
The paver field carries people from the house to the pavilion, with banding and step details marking the transition.
Fall containers and low planting soften the wood and paver work without blocking the seating areas.
