Project Narrative

How this project comes together

What the site needed

This Galena backyard is an outdoor room built in the open. The pergola spans a masonry fireplace wall and grill counter, while the paver field carries seating and dining out into the yard.

How the build answers it

The project works because the heavy and light pieces stay balanced. Stone gives the room a base. Wood framing filters the sun. The open patio keeps the country view intact.

Location: Galena, OH
Division: Residential Design & Build
Focus: Outdoor Room & Patio
Project Type: Pergola, fireplace, and outdoor kitchen patio

Scope

Wood pergola structure
Masonry fireplace and hearth
Built-in grill counter
Stone columns and low wall sections
Paver patio
Lounge and dining zones

Design Notes

The fireplace and grill counter sit on the same masonry line, so the patio has a clear back instead of scattered features.
The center stays open for furniture and walking room between the bar seating, lounge, and dining table.
The pergola gives shade and scale without closing off the long view across the lawn.
Stone column bases tie the structure back to the patio and fireplace instead of leaving the posts to float.
