Project Narrative

How this project comes together

What the site needed

This backyard needed a clean way to handle grade. The house sits above the lawn, and the patio had to feel connected to both without turning the yard into a stack of walls.

How the build answers it

Stone walls, steps, boulders, planting, and open lawn do the work together. The patio becomes a real sitting area, while the slope still feels like part of the yard.

Location: Dublin, OH
Division: Residential Design & Build
Focus: Terrace, Walls & Steps
Project Type: Grade transition, patio, and stone walls

Scope

Terrace patio
Stone retaining walls
Boulder edges
Steps and grade transitions
Planting beds
Lawn and house transitions

Design Notes

The wall line follows the slope instead of fighting it, which keeps the patio from feeling boxed in.
The broad paver area gives furniture a level landing while the steps handle the change back to the house.
Boulders and planting soften the wall edges and make the grade work feel intentional.
The lawn stays open, so the terrace adds use without taking over the whole backyard.
